(Darren Shan) Feather in the Wind (Cassie Gray)
So catch me if you can
Set me free again
Like a feather in the wind
Set me free again
Like a feather in the wind
The sun was setting, casting cool shadows across the park. it was one of the those days where everyone itched to be outside and as night slowly closed in, people couldn't help but stay out. Couples walked hand in hand while teens played sports on the grass. Parents sat and watched as their little ones attacked the playground in childhood bliss. Yes, it truly was a peaceful day and one Cassie could not miss. So, setting aside her paints and computer, she grabbed her sketch pad and made her way outside.
The air, still warm in the early time between day and night, grazed her sun-kissed skin, a feel like electricity running through her skin. Dusk was usually her favorite time. The sun was setting and people still milled around, going about their daily lives. A sense of quiet stillness had taken a liking to this particular time, giving the world an endless feel. Yes, dusk was truly a wonderful time.
Cassie stopped at a bench over looking part of the green. Dogs ran around the grass to one side while a group of boys played football on the other. Soccer, Cassie. Not football, she reminded herself with a small smile. She'd been here only a year and a half and she still couldn't get out of her European mindset. With a shake of her head, Cassie pulled out her sketchpad and began to work on some light gesture sketches. She had loved doing these in school, once she had gotten over the shock of the nude life models that is. It was amazing what changed since time passed. From a normal girl studying art at Uni to a published author who just happened to be a vampire. Yes, life sure was strange that way.
She felt something hard nudge against her foot and when she looked down, a football --soccerball -- had come to rest at her feet.
