Emma wasn't usually in such a rush, but the sun was setting and when it did her favorite potion shop would be closed with it. Luna's the only place in the county that had all the rare ingredients she would need for her spell, a nice little memory eraser that was full proof to make someone forget a subject in it's entirety.
She managed to walk into the shop just as Luna-the owner and name sake-was closing down. The silver haired woman smiled at her as the brunette handed her a list. Within five minutes she had her hands full of small bottles and pouches, out the door as the wary owner locked up. Emma glanced up at the horizon, the sun had just set.

Mika was up early; the sky was still stained red by the time he was on the road. But the diffuse light was safe enough, and when in enemy territory it was a good thing to keep moving. He had caught the scent of vampaneze on the breeze last night, meaning he had reached the part of the country that they occupied and vampires generally did not. There were none actually around right now, which was also good, although he was here to catch any new information on them. Not that he cared, but the tension in the vampire council couldn't get much higher, so he just had to get the bloody hell out of there.
He was traveling alone so as not to attract notice, and he had made sure nobody knew where he was. He liked it that way. For others it might mean vulnerability, but well.. one didn't get to where he was if they couldn't take care of themselves. Mika turned towards a potion shop on the side of the road; he had gotten the idea to get poisons to imbue his weapons with, and have on hand. He must have missed the woman between the stacks, because he did not see anyone except the owner of the place, who seemed less than pleased to see him. The door slammed shut behind him and his purchase, and a minute later the lock clicked and a 'closed' sign was slapped firmly to the window.
It was almost completely dark now, but he had no trouble seeing the woman who had paused on the steps, apparently to look at the sky. He slid the bottles away and his hand instinctively drifted to his hidden belt dagger. However, he didn't touch it. She wasn't a vampire or a vampaneze, but something made her seem more interesting than the average human, unless the scent of herbs or the sun had gotten to him because this impression came only from a glance at her back. He walked forward, down two steps so that he was standing on the same one as the other potion customer, not knowing whether to say something or just sweep past as usual. For one thing, he was at a loss for what to say.
"Nice night, eh?" It sounded incredibly stupid, given that it was a very out of character thing for him to say, even though he'd been in a very good mood for Mika standards. So he scowled, immediately deciding that it was not a nice night after all. He glanced sideways. Whoever she was, she was very pretty.

Emma was quickly snapped out her thoughts of just how much of what she would have to use when a distinctly masculine voice asked her a simple question. She turned and smiled softly, "Lovely, it always is right after sunset." Her voice was a light soprano, soft yet commanding of your attention. Her mother always said it was the voice of a witch, gentle yet powerful. Emma shifted so that she could fully face the young man, and asked rather curiously, "What brought you by so late? Most people have learned to not, Luna is a rather superstitious person." She didn't mention why, because few would believe it. Luna had been a high ranking member of her Coven when her daughter was killed by a Vampaneze, she hadn't trusted anyone in the dark ever since. It was why Emma went of her way to see her, but it had been later than she had hoped and the old woman was quick to lock her doors.

So she had a nice voice to match her looks. "Hmm." he half-grunted. Mika wasn't exactly quick to call anything lovely.
Certainly this Luna wasn't; he had no respect for superstition. He didn't know her, but he'd had no problem bothering her, with or without this information. He had no problem bothering anyone, which might be good because he was always pissing people off. And or pissed off himself.
"Well, I'm not superstitious." He breathed in the fresh air and managed a small smile. "And actually, it's early." Not that he was in the habit of sleeping in, but it was early for a vampire anyway.

Emma laughed, shaking her head slightly. She could sense something was off about the man, but blamed her mind for trying to negate his good looks. With a teasing smile she replied, "Perhaps you should be, there are allot of things that go bump in the night around here." Her tone was half teasing, half serious. Allot of witches had a problem with vampires and vampaneze, mainly because their spells had no effect on them. She didn't see the problem with it though, it was rather refreshing to her to think that there were a select few who she had no power over. "Haven't you noticed just how things run around here?" She asked, "All the shops close at sun set and open at a few hours past sun rise. It's like everyone is afraid of something." Emma smiled knowingly, but shrugged. She found it rather amusing that the whole town was so afraid of a race that they refused to even admit existed.

Maybe the humans here had a right to be scared, with the vampaneze preying on them. They were so ignorant, scurrying about their simple lives and reducing the very real creatures of the night to superstition. Being on the other side himself, Mika knew what was real and what wasn't, and there was no room for fantasies or unsubstantiated paranoia. Of course, he had no way of knowing if something was going on here, because he'd never been here before, and it wasn't like the vampaneze broadcasted news for the rest of the world to learn. If they did, he wouldn't be here in the first place.
"I'm from out of town." he admitted. "But I have no doubt that I can deal with anything.. out there." He swept the darkening corners of the street with his confident dark eyes. Then he looked sideways at his companion again, taking in her knowing smile and wondering if she knew what was really out there or if she was just articulating the mood of the townspeople.
