Bijou and Drake had lived under the same roof-if you could call the curved ceiling of their trailer a roof-for about a year and a half and got along pretty well considering the large age gap and species difference. It seemed the only thing they had ever disagreed on was Bijou's future, or rather, her lack of one.
Drake had dropped several hints that he wouldn't mind having her as an apprentice, and that she could make a wonderful Vampaneze. What he never seemed to get though, was that she was horrified by the thought of taking another creatures life. They had argued that she ate meat, and thus lived by the death of an animal. And weren't all humans nothing more than evolved animals?
It had been another conversation such as this, that had led to another argument, blown out of proportion by their short tempers. Next month would be the anniversary of when Bijou had joined the Cirque, and Drake had pointed out that she was getting older, and that her subtle beauty would begin to fade soon. Enraged, Bijou screamed a string of obscenities at him that no one, not even the blond herself, knew where she had learned them. The duo spent an hour yelling until their voices cracked, and Bijou made a point of opening the door to their make shift home further than she needed to, and smirked in guilty pleasure at the hiss she heard the vampaneze let out as he jumped back from the horrid sunlight.
Bijou could hear him demanding that she get back in there so they could finish their conversation, but the telepath wasn't having it. Instead she simply kept walking, her head bowed slightly as her grey eyes adjusted to the harsh light of midday. She wasn't sure where she was going, all she knew was that it was somewhere.
