Robbin used to love being with the Cirque. She'd had friends and even a pet but all that had gone now. Since her little adventure through the portal, everything had changed.
With the exception of Mr. Tall, nearly everybody at the Cirque had left and new people had come. She didn't know anyone. And of course, the weird feeling people got when they were around her didn't help with the new friend making scheme.
She had made her way out to the stage. It was empty at the moment which was probably a good thing. Since her little tirade around another world, she had gained some new abilities and she had to think of a way to work those into an act. Although she wasn't entirely sure what she could do. She was incredibly book smart, knew seventeen languages, and played nearly every instrument known. But none of that was stuff that could impress an audience.
The only cool thing she could do to show off was her demon face. But that just wasn't enough. maybe she could find someone to choreograph a fight with. Perhaps she could show off her strength.
The redhead looked around the silent stage and sighed. She found the center of the platform and sat, cross-legged. She closed her eyes and thought. She had wanted to come back to this world so much. She didn't realize that when she did, she would be treated mike a freak, even by the freaks. Her vampire brethren avoided her. She had no place here and no friends. At least there, they had accepted her.
Another long day of work at the Cirque. The stage was deserted now as night had fallen, but Evra walked towards it as he didn't feel like going back to his tent at the moment. In the past few years he'd come to actually enjoy getting up there and performing in this setting. Expecting to have a short moment of quiet reflection before getting bored and leaving. He went up the steps, not really looking where he was going.
It was only when he walked out onto the stage itself that the snake-boy realized he was not alone after all. An apparently young woman was sitting in the middle of the stage. The reason he had not seen her before was that it was too dark to see. She was someone from the Cirque of course though he didn't know her very well. But that was no problem. Evra usually at least tried to make friends with everyone, regardless of whether or not they were his age.
"Hi." he said, not wanting to startle her or bother her if she would rather be alone with her thoughts.
She had heard him approach. Her hearing was quite adept and he had a very unique way of walking due to his snake blood. She continued to sit where she was with her eyes closed-meditating. She gave it a few seconds after he'd spoken before she turned to him.
Her face was that of her second race at the moment. She found it more relaxing to be in that stage but she knew most people int his world did not like it. She left it only long enough for him to glimpse before letting it morph back into the soft beauty she is in full human form. She stood and turned fully to him, her now green eyes traveling his body.
She had seen him around the Cirque before and had quite liked the looks of both him and his act. She loved the closeness between him and his snake. Their bond was much like Larten and Octa's.
The clothes she wore at the moment was not her usual leather and red costume she wore to perform. Instead it was a simple pair of jeans, a black off-the-shoulder shirt and a red trench-coat. She was barefoot.
She dipped her head in respect to him. At least he was a real performer with a talent that could be shown to and appreciated by a crowd of paying humans. "Hello. I didn't mean to take the stage from you. If you wish to practice or have the stage you may. I was just...finishing..." Of course it was a lie but what did it matter. The likelihood of him wanting to do anything with her around would be close to none. Besides, the Cirque was huge now and few people knew everyone. Unless they made a point to, the pair would not easily cross paths again.
The sight of the way her face changed would have been startling to most people, but it didn't really bother Evra. You got used to seeing the gruesome and fantastic at the Cirque and it sure wasn't the most extreme of that. Especially since he looked like a freak all the time himself, but she could change and was quite beautiful in her human form. Most freaks were always stuck looking the way they did and there was no changing that.
The respect and apology came as a surprise; he was used to getting pushed around and even at the Cirque he was one of the youngest there. "It's okay." he said, not knowing what else to as it would be more expected for her to tell him to go away, and certainly not the other way around. But he truly didn't have any preference to being alone or not and didn't want to make her leave just because he was there. He hadn't been planning on practicing or using the stage alone, he'd just been walking past it and climbed up for no reason really.
On the subject of the stage he elaborated, "I don't want it." Evra hovered over her hesitantly, wondering if he could sit down next to her or if she wanted to be left alone in that case. It didn't look to him like she was practicing, or doing anything at all that needed to be finished here. She was just sitting there. She could be practicing just making the face or doing something mentally though.
She couldn't take her eyes off of him. His scaeley skin was facinating. She had seen his act a few times and loved it, although she'd never actually spoken to him before. She had had a facination with snakes when she was younger and had actually owned one in her time in the other world. That was, until it had died due to being...well mortal.
"It's okay...I don't want it." She cocked her head, slightly confused by what he'd said.
If you do not want it, then why are you here?" She didn't mean to sound as blunt as she probably did. Her time and experience had taught her that most people, even the eternal, wanted to spend time doign something that wasn't talking. her sentences where often concise and to the point, while at the same time being elaborate and formal.
She was entirely shocked, of course, that he hadn't seemed to care about her face. Perhaps he was unawear that she was a vampire and, in this world, should not be able to do that. Regardless, it made her happy that he seemed to lack the fear.
Evra shifted a little uncomfortably under her look. He was used to people looking at him in the shows but this was just one person, up close and calm and staring at him. Why was he here, well that was a good question. "Uh.. no reason." He really was just walking by and didn't have one. From the way she talked and acted he got the feeling that she wasn't someone to do things for no reason. That probably meant she didn't want to talk. Maybe he should just go. The snake-boy edged back a little.
"Uh.. no reason." She could feel his uncomfotability. It was thick and filled the room. He started to edge backwards. With a barely audible sigh, she dipped her head. She had freaked him out.
She knew she would never make friends in this world again if she continued to act this way but it wasn't something she could help. Time changes a person and so do alternative universes. And those two things put together are very altering. She didn't belong here anymore and it was evedent by the fact that she weirded people out.
She attempted one final time to get him to stay. "I didn't mean you had to leave...." She was hesetent. "If you want to go though, you can."
Well, this wasn't awkward at all. Not. Evra could sense that she regretted acting the way she did. He shifted uncomfortably but didn't leave. It could be hard to tell how to act around people, and maybe that was true for the both of them as well. He wasn't sure what else to say. "Oh. Well, I will if you want me to." The snake-boy didn't think it would be rude if she said she did.
She definitely seemed the type to but something told him she wouldn't. He sat down hesitantly beside her, looking out over the darkened camp. His eyes were better than most but like anyone who wasn't a vampire or vampaneze he still didn't see very well at night. If the woman continued acting how she was Evra could always just leave without being asked, as he had been intending to before he ran into her.
"Oh. Well, I will if you want me to." She had this horribly sinking feeling in her stomach that she had just blown something important, like when you forgot that your senior paper was due second hour and you haven't done any of it. She sighed heavily and was about to speak when he sat down beside her.
She looked over at him, slightly confused and questioning. "I don't. Want you to go, I mean." The way she said it was stupid. You'd think after a couple hundred years one would learn to be a bit smoother with words, especially with some of the people she used to hang out with.
Evra looked at her curiously. Something definitely seemed off about her, but he couldn't tell exactly what that was yet. "Okay." he nodded, trying to make things more comfortable so as to eventually find out. Upon looking at her he knew she was someone he may have seen once or twice but hadn't talked to before. He didn't know her name, but the only way to find out and keep things going was to ask. "If you don't mind me asking, what's your name? I'm Evra Von." he waited for her to introduce herself, trying to give her a smile but feeling half stupid and still unsure what he was even doing here with her. Oh well.
"If you don't mind me asking, what's your name? I'm Evra Von."
"yea I know." She could have kicked herself! She squinted heavily then apologized. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound creepy. I just meant I've seen your performance and I quite enjoy it." She sighed. "Longley. Robbin Longley. It's a name after a friend I once had a few cen...uh...awhile ago.
Why? How? Why was she such an idiot? She'd lived for centuries, fought along side some of the greatest warriors in the universes and she couldn't keep from looking like a total dumbass in front of one guy? dusting vamps and killing vampneeze was never this difficult. They didn't look at you twice if your pun didn't make any sense, they just tried to kill you. ah the good old universe...
That wasn't unusual; everyone watched the show even if they didn't perform. He just thought it would be rude to ask her name without introducing himself just in case. Evra also picked up on what she said next. Was she about to say centuries? There were vampires at the Cirque, so hearing that wasn't strange enough to miss. To be honest they kinda creeped him out, vampires, but they weren't bad people. He didn't know what Robbin Longley was; she seemed different from them somehow. "Oh.. thanks. Centuries? How ol.. I mean, what are you? There must be a reason you're here." he hoped that did not sound offensive. If she thought it a personal question she didn't have to answer; he was just curious.
"Oh.. thanks. Centuries? How ol.. I mean, what are you? There must be a reason you're here."
She chuckled slightly. "My age is relative. I spent some time in another universe where time moved quicker then it did here. In terms of this world, I am only about 90. As far as years I've experienced, a little over 300. As for what I am, I am a vampire. But no the kind you are used to..." She hesitated but figure it wasn't really worth hiding. her demon side was a part of who she was and if she had to hide it all the time, what was the point of even coming back to this world?
She let her face morph back to the bumpy demonic face. Her brow pinched together, her eyes turned yellow and her canines lengthened. She shrugged at him. "Vampire."
