We are brothers forever, pain and joy we share together.
For the outcasts of the earth, there's no heaven there's no hell.
There's no heaven or hell.
We are the ones no one sees; we are the ones who can eat through the world as we please.
The blood and the wine are always running red.
By thieves and by whores you know the dance is led.
The blind man will see and all the cripples dance.
We're born to be hung and so we take a chance.
At the court of the miracles, the court of the miracles.
Jasmine had never been able to stay in Vampire Mountain for long.
It wasn't that she didn't love her home; in fact, it was one of the best places the vampiress could call home. There were other vampires there, people she could talk to and actually be herself. It was here that she could see Zander relax and actually enjoy himself, instead of being so stiff and so unwilling to even blink. It was home to her. And yet she just couldn't stay there for too long.
She wasn't quite sure why that was, actually. Maybe it was because, as a fledgling - and then a full-grown vampire - she had constantly been on the move. They had been give several different "safehouses," but had never stayed long enough to make it a home. Or maybe it was because of her considerably short human life; she had been a slave, after all, and had never called the house she served a home.
But she was home for a little while. She had been called back to the Mountain for something or other. A part of her wanted to say it had something to do with a new law, or perhaps it was the evaluation of a possible new Prince. Either way, she had been called back to the Mountain for a short stay, and so she was going to roam. There was no point in staying in her room and sleeping her nights away, eh?
So she walked the tunnels, Zander stalking behind her. He moved quietly for someone of his size, and that was something even Jasmine had to marvel at. Granted, she moved quicker, quieter, due to her own size, but his bear-ish-ness did not seem to hinder his ability to sneak. Perhaps it was all those years he had spent following her and making sure she was safe.
"This place is supposedly dangerous, Jazz..." He murmured, deep voice echoing off the enclosed walls. Despite his words, there was no fear in his tone, only a bit of caution for the woman he saw as his sister, his best friend. "Is it is wise to...?"
"Probably not," Jasmine admitted. A soft noise came from her lips as she saw a light up ahead, and hurried towards it, "but I found a cave. And caves are safer than the deep tunnels, right?"
Zander made a noise, but she shrugged it off. There was light up ahead, which meant that it was an opening in the side of the mountain. It also meant that daylight was out and, if she was lucky, some poor vampire had been caught by its rays and was now being forced to hide in the cave until it was time for him to flit again.
Maybe she could find someone to talk to other than her dearest friend.
Maybe she could make a new friend.
