The hot afternoon sun beat down on the patch of dusty grass the Cirque was camped on. Shendeth squinted up at it with distaste while leaning against the side of a van. Being a so-called 'creature of the night' had nothing to do with it, as it didn't hurt him any more than it did any other human. Yes, other human. Half vampaneze meant half human. It didn't make much sense to ignore one side. But he'd never liked days like this much, not even before the change.
Turning away from it he looked to the ground instead, long dark hair falling around his face as he absentmindedly kicked a stone in the dirt. After looking up to follow its path his eyes darted around the silent camp. The campfire and all of the other residents were hidden from sight by the neighboring tents and vans. In better words he was hidden from them. The sixteen-year-old had no desire to resume chores at this moment. But there wasn't something else he was doing instead. No, he was pretty bored.
Shendeth continued to lean against the tent, but was feeling restless. Just waiting for someone interesting to come along, or even start a fight, anything.
Zane was bored. B-O-R-E-D. There was nothing to do, Reaver was at that mountain place and everyone was too busy to do anything with him. "Ugghhhhh, nothing to do in this place..." He noticed a guy standing near a tent. As Zane grew closer he noticed that it was that one half-vampneze...("Shendeth was it? Yea, it was.") "Bonjour!" Zane yelled as he got closer to the halfer. ("God, please don't start a fight...") Zane thought as he was in shaking distance of the halfer, he tripped over a stone, knocking Shendeth over. "Merde!!!" He picked himself up and offered a hand to the crumpled vampaneze. "Sorry, about that..." ----------------------------- Merde=shit!

The sound of a voice shouting something made him look in that direction. However before he got a good look at the kid or could return the greeting a weight slammed into him. Not having been being alert for this kind of thing he was pushed into the dry ground with Zane. It had been an accident so he wasn't too annoyed but ignored the hand anyway, springing quickly back to his feet in a movement that wasn't quite human. "Watch it." he said, but not in too nasty a way as there was no reason to be yet. Maybe a fight would be welcome but he usually wasn't one to go around starting them. Zane was the same age as him and a performer and that was pretty much all he knew; they weren't friends. Narrowing his eyes a little he waited for the human to go on.
Zane rubbed the back of his head and smiled. "Sorry, I didn't see where I was going." His eyes shot open as he felt something warm running down his leg. "Putain..." His hands started to shake as he felt down his leg. He felt something very sticky. "Ummm...Shendeth...? Hehe, I know what you are and I-i-!" His voice cracked and he laughed nervously.

The scent of fresh blood hit the air along with the other boy's fear. Shendeth almost laughed but this was too good. The half-vampaneze narrowed his eyes and leaned in close so their faces were inches apart. "You would be wise not to go shouting that out." he finished the sentence in a threatening whisper. Zane could have found out through the vampires who did know but most of the Cirque didn't know what he was. It wasn't a huge secret but not something you went around telling people. Not that Zane was any threat.
Suddenly drawing back, he held up the blood on his fingers, having bent down and touched the cut on Zane's leg in a movement much too quick for a human eye to follow. "And don't give me a reason to do it." he said in a similar dark way, eyeing the blood and taking a step forward. It referring to draining the other guy of blood. It would have been more dramatic to lick it but he knew better than that and instead quickly wiped it off on Zane's shirt before it could be there long.
Zane winced as Shendeth wiped his fingers on Zane's shirt. "Even if you did 'it' that wouldn't be very good. You don't know what my power is do you?" As Zane said this the blood from the cut and the shirt lifted up and became tiny droplets with tiny, but very, very sharp spikes. "Surprised?"
(OMG THIS SUCKSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol, really wanna fight cha though. *wink, wink*

Shendeth couldn't help glancing down at the spikes but a second later he was looking back at Zane again, apparently unfazed. "Impressive." he said smoothly. "But useless if you're already dead." His face split into a malevolent grin. Vampaneze didn't just grab someone and start sucking. At least he didn't, but killed or knocked them out first. Doing so when they were asleep or not looking. So if he had actually wanted to do it Zane's power wouldn't be much help to him. As they were now.. that only made it interesting.
Zane's smiled faded as Shendeth told him that vampaneze knocked people out before draining their blood. He stepped back and the spikes turned back into liquid as the halfer's mouth became a grin. "W-why did you be-become a vampaneze instead of a vampire?" Zane might have been scared but he did want to know why.

Shendeth scowled a little at the question, but then sneered as if the thought of being a vampire was ridiculous and below him. "Because vampires suck.", he growled. No pun intended. In reality that wasn't the real reason it all but he wasn't about to tell Zane his story. He could sense the human's fear and certainly wasn't going to do anything to decrease it. But really they did. He had no desire whatsoever to be a vampire instead.
Zane gave a inward smile. "Thats not the real reason at all, is it? Why won't you tell me what the real reason is, hmm?" He twirled his fingers around in a circle, making blood droplets dance. "Or...we could always...I don't know...fight and if I win, you tell me the real reason hm?"

He gave a sinister smile, not bothered in this case that Zane didn't believe him. "I think that's reason enough." But at what he said next.. Mental eyeroll. "Or you could just mind your own business. Why should I waste my time fighting over something that stupid?" Why he was a vampaneze was none of Zane's buisness. Shendeth wasn't scared of fighting him but he wouldn't start it or bother to fight over that unless Zane attacked him. And if he did, the human was going to be disappointed. He had no fantastical story or dark secrets to tell.
The truth was simple and mundane and that's what made it stupid. He only fought people for a reason. Shendeth looked at the human in a bored way, making it clear that he wasn't avoiding a fight because he was scared. He was pretty confident that he would not lose. At most it was even. Maybe Zane could turn his blood into a weapon but the vampaneze still had super strength and speed, and much greater endurance than a human. He was a murderer and no stranger to pain. A challenge was fine, so go ahead and be that immature. But it would be pointless.
Zane watched as Shendeth rolled his eyes. "Fine, you don't have to tell me anything, ok? I'm bored and I wanna do something, sooo what, just a friendly battle? I mean, we're not friends or anything, just thought it sounded better....ummm...so yes or no?"

So that was it? Calm down and be bored? Oh well. He sighed. Since there was no need to be he didn't bother continuing acting hostile. Shendeth was wicked bored too, but even so.. "No." he walked around Zane once before leaning against the van again. It still sounded a little foolish. He fought to kill; battles weren't arranged. It had been years since he'd had a friend to do that with.
Speaking of friends, the guy in front of him didn't have to be an enemy if he didn't want to be. The vampaneze had enough of those already. "That can change." he shrugged. "It's not a big deal so I could tell you about me, but you gotta tell me about you." And no lies. That was maybe better than a fight anyway. He didn't know much about Zane or how he'd come to the Cirque. So at least right now it couldn't hurt to at least offer friendship. If Zane disagreed then so be it.

Zane as Shendeth said no to his request. After Shendeth asked him about his past, he sighed. "Heh, thats a long story...Me and my sister, we went to the Cirque and..well there was a accident with the Wolf-Man and...Mr. Tall found out about my powers and welll...here I am." He laughed and rubbed the back of his head.

Shendeth listened to what Zane said. He'd had a sister too, before he left to be a vampaneze. Zane had sighed at the question but it was better than Shendeth's own past. At least what he told him was. It didn't sound like Zane was lying but he could also be leaving a lot of stuff out. But it was only fair to return the favor and answer Zane's original question. He'd tell him only as much as he was told. There was no saying who Zane might go on to tell but it didn't matter.
"Alright." he said when the blood manipulator was finished. "I'm a vampaneze because the person who changed me was. It's not just about whether you want to kill people, vampires have different blood than us. And I didn't get a choice to be vampaneze either. I ran away when I got the chance.. and here I am." he said repeating Zane's closing words.
