FULL DESCRIPTION:[/color] Zander is a very intimidating man. At six foot four, two hundred some-odd pounds, he could easily take any mortal - and most Vampires/Vampaneze - and pound them into the ground without a single thought. His entire body is ripped with muscles, the result of both his work as a soldier/slave and the training he's done as a vampire, and he's not afraid to show then off, either. It's why he tends to go for the "typical" Vampire-In-Leather look that came about after Buffy and all those other fun shows. 

Unlike Jasmine, who is biracial, Zander is full blooded African American. He has the soft, chocolate colored skin that most desire. His eyes are sharp and angled and dark brown, to the point of being almost black, in color. They are one of the most intimidating parts of him - not just his muscles. His hair is usually in dreadlocks, though whether they are up or down depends on his mood.

PERSONALITY:[/color] Zander is tough. He knows the rules of the Vampires and follows them as closely as possible. He also doesn't tolerate others going against them, which is why he desires the position of Vampire General so much. (That, and he would rather not die without leaving some sort of legacy behind him.) He follows Jazz not only because she is his sire - or dam, as the case may be - but also because she is a Prince, and he knows that she will do what she can to get him to where he wants to be. 

But it is not just out of desire for power that he follows the much older vampire. It is out of a strong sense of loyalty that was formed the moment their blood mingled. He follows her to protect her, to be her constant companion and best friend. He doesn't want to leave his friend alone, though it would probably be safer for him if he did. But he just can't bring himself to do so. 

Zander projects the image of being the strong, tough as nails, take no crap guard. He is often silent, unless the two of them are alone, and isn't above taking Jazz's name if someone asks directly for her, just to see if the person means harm or not. If he sees them as safe, then he will allow Jazz to show herself as the true Prince. 

He's also a big teddy bear, once you get to know him. However, only Jazz has ever seen that side of him. And she's the only one he ever plans on allowing see that side of him.

HISTORY:[/color] Zander was born William "Willie" Smith, the son of two slaves and the slave of a plantation owner. At the age of twelve, he was sold to a blacksmith, which is where he was given his first, true last name. The smith was kind to him, unlike the plantation owner, who used to beat his slaves if they were caught moving a few steps behind the average pace. He preferred that master over his birth one. 

That was why, when the Revolutionary War broke out, William was quick to take up arms beside his Master, who promised the now-eighteen-year-old his freedom if he survived the war. He fought beside his master for a year, when the man died of a bullet wound. Scared, alone, and unsure what to do, he continued on with the war. A little while later, he met a nurse by the name of Jasmine Reynolds. She was kind to him, and bandaged him up every time he was hurt. She was also magic, he swore; every wound she kissed healed almost instantly. 

The two grew close and, at the end of the war, William found out why his dear friend was so "magical." She was a vampire. She was a vampire who offered him the same gifts she had. At first he was hesitant, and Jasmine promised to give him time to think it over. When she returned, however, he knew his answer, and he knew why.

That night, he turned into a half-vampire to protect the woman who had saved his life many times before. 

Jasmine was the mentor most would want, having been taught by who she considered to be one of the best. She was patient, kind, and always had a smile when he needed it. For being so old, she acted much younger than her age. He was grateful for it. 

When his training was up, Jasmine turned him into a full vampire and told him that she'd had a blast. With a smile, she offered him her last name - and he took it. Along with a new first name as well. It was his way of telling her he wasn't going to leave her. He was going to travel with her.

They traveled together for nearly fifty years, until Jasmine was made the first female Vampire Prince. Then, he took up being her protector as well. He knows she can handle herself, but, in his eyes, she needs a friend, and he needs to know she's safe. So he stands beside her.
