PERSONALITY: To most people, Erika can be a very nice, kind person. She is curious about various things, a few that she keeps to herself so that people won't make fun of her or something about it. She is curious about various urban legends and scary stories that have been documented over the years by various authors. Sometimes, her curiosity gets her in trouble, especially with her adoptive parents. They think that she should be more interested in interacting with other children her age and shopping and stuff, but she can't help it if these things catch her interest.
When she likes a guy, she tends to get nervous, self-conscious, and fidgety like most girls her age. She doesn't like getting like that, but it is another thing she can't control. Towards people she doesn't like, she usually withdraws and keeps to herself instead of interacting with them. Why should she anyways? There is probably a good reason she doesn't like them, right? If she is pushed too far, she can get mean and maybe even throw a punch or two. This especially happens if someone finds out that she is adopted and tries to make fun of her or talk badly of her biological parents.
GOALS: She wants to finish high school, go to a two-year college, get a good job, fall in love, and someday have children. She also wants to find out what killed her parents so many years ago.
FEARS: She is afraid of dying a horrible death, never being able to see her family again, hurting the ones she loves, of the bad things that lurk in the dark, and of not having any control over her life.
LIKES: nice people, scary stories, urban legends, weird things, circuses, hanging out with friends and family, chocolate, boys.
DISLIKES: Mean or rude people, bad kind of pressure, feeling lonely, celery, spinach, rats, having a lot of homework, being shy most of the time, the way she acts around boys she likes, remembering how her biological parents died.

COMMON KNOWLEDGE:
Most people know that she is the nice, quiet girl that often sits in the back of the class. She is also the daughter of two of the doctors at the local hospital.
SECRETS: Her parents died when she was ten. They were out one night when they went down a dark road in the country and her father, who had been driving at the time, ran into something. Worried, her father got out and checked to see what he had hit. The next thing Erika and her mother knew was that her father started screaming. Scared for her husband's welfare, Erika's mother told her to stay in the car before she got out and checked to see what was going on. That was when a creature that looked like a man, but wasn't quite human tackled her and bit her neck. Erika had quickly locked the doors and hid in the backseat on the floor until daytime had risen. That was when she had got her father's cell phone, which was still on his seat, and called 911. The police soon came out and took her to the foster care system. She stayed there for a year before getting adopted. She's been interested in scary stories and urban legends ever since.
HABITS: When she is nervous, she either stutters her words or twirls a strand of her hair. She also stutters her words when she is scared.
STRENGTHS:History class, finding her way around town without the help of her adoptive parents, and keeping secrets.
WEAKNESSES:She struggles with the memory of her bio parents death and the nightmares she sometimes have of them getting murdered. She is also not so good in math and science class.

PARENTS: Her biological parents are both deceased. Their names were April and Thomas Dooley. They died when they were 37 years old. Her adoptive parents are Melanie and James Harper.
SIBLINGS: She is an only child.
RELATIONSHIPS: She isn't any relationships at the moment and hasn't had any in the past.
HISTORY: Not too long, thanks, but try to make it a decent amount. At least three paragraphs or so...
She was born on April 14, 1980, to April and Thomas Dooley. She grew up as their only child and never minded them not having any more children. As she grew older, she got very close to them and often spent most of her free time with them doing various activities. Her favorite activities to do with them would have to be going camping, fishing, and going to the circus. She thought that everything would remain this perfect, but it couldn't stay wonderful forever, now could it?
Everything changed for her shortly after she turned ten.
She never grew as close too her adoptive parents as she had been with her biological parents. This was probably due to them not sharing any of the same blood. Plus, they were completely different from her real parents. They were stricter, put too much pressure on her to get good grades and to make a good impression to the people in the town they lived in, and they forced her to add their name to hers and to go by Harper instead of Dooley. It became worse, at least to her, when people began to think that they were her real parents. They looked absolutely nothing like her and nobody seemed to notice.
Soon, she began to think about running away when she turned sixteen. She got a job babysitting some of the kids she lived next to and saved the money. Since she did a good job, the parents she babysat for gave her raise and soon she had at least a hundred dollars. Then a few days ago, she turned seventeen and has since begun to pack her things away secretly and have planned to runaway a few days from now. She never expected to be going to the Cirque Du Freak a day before she left her adoptive parents' house, though.

EXPERIENCE: A couple of years.
OTHER CHARACTERS: This is my first one.
TIME ZONE: Eastern.
RP SAMPLE: At least three paragraphs, preferably more.
Erika Harper laid in bed, sleeping. She was having a nightmare about the night her biological parents died years ago. It was still fresh in her mind, almost as if it had happened yesterday. Every now and then, she would kick her blankets and turn from side to side. The nightmare seemed to last forever before she bolted upright in her bed, almost as if something had woken her.
Looking around her bedroom, she tried to see what might be in her bedroom despite the way the darkness made her eyesight not so great. Reaching over to turn on the lamp she had on her nightstand, she forced her pounding heart to start to calm down. There couldn't possibly be anything in her bedroom with her. After all, she had locked the lock on her window before she went to bed.
When light filled the room, she breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that she was alone in her bedroom. Her relief was short-lived, however, when she saw that her bedroom window was open. "What the-" she wondered as she swung her legs over the side of her bed and placed her feet on the floor. She stood up and walked over to her window. When she reached it, she slammed it off and locked the lock once again. She then returned to her bed, got in, and tried to go back to sleep. She didn't turn off the light, though. She was too afraid.[/blockquote]
