Ophelia never ventured to the Scrublands, well that wasn't exactly true. She did when she felt the need to, but that was hardly ever as she was disgusted at the stie of the purple-skinned, gruesome fellow Vampaneze. There was no doubt she loved her eternal youth and the added abilities that came with being a creature of the night, but sometimes she wondered if Vampires had it better. Yet everytime she decided that she was better the way she was. Ophelia was Vampaneze for a reason, at least that's what she liked to think.
She dug her shoe into the ground, kicking up the dust into the air. She pulled her white shawl around her tighter as she walked about, her long dark hair swaying gently in the subtle breeze. She reached back to one of the locks and tugged on it lightly. She was still young compared to other Vampaneze, but she didn't mind, it let her keep her beauty longer. Even though she didn't think of it as beauty anymore, hardly any of it was natural.
Her eyes scanned the horizon. She wasn't hungry, but she felt the desire to drain a man dry. Although she knew she couldn't, she had to keep herself on a very strict diet, so the effects of the blood wouldn't come through as fast as others. She had to control herself.
She snapped out of her daze when she heard the scuffle of feet somewhere in the dark of the night around her.

And whose wonderful idea was it to travel through vampaneze territory? Ah well, it would be a chance to see what they were up to if he ran into one. Mika Ver Leth had no fear of the vampires' purple-skinned cousins. It was a dark night, and he walked along quietly, but maybe not as quietly as he should. He was in a foul, gloomy mood as usual. But then it hit him. The scent of a vampaneze, and close by. He looked up at the figure ahead, touching the handle of one of the many swords and daggers he carried hidden in his dark clothes.
"Don't try anything, I know you're there." he growled when she seemed to hear his footsteps. Mika walked up close behind her. A woman.. that was interesting. A fight would be interesting too, if she was fool enough to attack. Though it would be better if she didn't, you never knew what a vampaneze was going to do.
Ophelia froze once the other spoke. She smelled the air, thick of Vampire scent. She clenched her fists, then unclenched them. She had nothing to hide, at the moment. Even if she did, Ophelia would always admit her faults. She raised her white hands in a surrender-like manner, a small smile playing across her painted lips. She wiggled her fingers in a wave motion, flicking her eyes side to side.
"If anything, you're the one sneaking up on me." She called back in a playful tone. That was how Ophelia was, playful and whimsical. She knew that one day that would be the death of her, yet she didn't mind. She thought she better enjoy life while she was still beautiful, rather than grovel in her own misery for eternity. If she just reached behind her, she could feel the Vampire behind her, although she knew better than that. Ophelia wasn't familiar with many Vampires, and she didn't know how they reacted to her kind, for all she knew, he could attempt to bite her hand off. She rather liked her hands, and she liked them to stay attached.
Slowly, she took a step forward, and spun slowly on her heels to face the man. It was how she expected, a regal appearance, seemingly human. Although she could counter it with her big blue eyes and smiling face. Ophelia crossed her arms and cocked her hips, looking him over. "There's no reason for such a serious stance, is there? Does it look like I'm going to fight you?" She questioned in her cool and lax tone.

Yes, in a way he was the one sneaking up on her. Mika could have attacked or put a knife to her throat, but for now he didn't. She had just been standing there after all. To tell the truth he had nothing personal against the vampaneze, so he probably wouldn't attack for real unless she did. But she didn't have to know that. The Vampire Prince didn't respond to her playful tone. He was anything but that. When she moved around he studied her in turn. She didn't have the coloring of a vampaneze yet, but there was no doubt that that was what she was.
"No. But I take no chances." he said, narrowing his eyes a little. Mika was never not serious. He didn't trust anyone, let alone some random vampaneze girl, and though it didn't seem like they would have to fight he was always alert and ready to. The dark vampire raised an eyebrow and looked her over.
Ophelia sighed, taking a step back and walking to the side of the Vampire. He was an odd sort, or maybe she was just the odd one. He had pale skin and dark hair, typical to that of a storybook vampire. She shrugged it off for the moment and continued to look him over. "It seems like so many of you always think that we will be the first to strike the blow. Haven't you ever thought of it as the other way around?" Ophelia didn't expect him to answer, she just felt like it needed to be said. She looked over his shoulder to see if any other Vampaneze were in sight, for the time however, there wasn't. In a way that was a great relief, as someone who didn't know her could mistake them both for Vampires, because to her, the Vampire smell was much stronger than Vampaneze.
She brushed her hair behind her ears and walked to the front of him. She stuck out her hand and waited. "I'm Ophelia." She chirped. The Vampaneze always seemed to have that flirty and sweet expression, even though she wasn't all that sweet in the first place.

Mika turned as she walked around him, not letting her get out of his sight. As what she said sounded like a rhetorical question he didn't answer. The vampires did hate the vampaneze, he didn't like them much either and didn't believe in trying to make peace. But that was because the prophecy said the vampaneze would be the ones to rise up and destroy the vampires. In this situation with nobody watching he couldn't be bothered to strike a first blow. Besides, he was sure he'd drained a person or ten when he was younger. What a shame. He thought it was wrong but didn't get as worked up about that issue as some did.
When she introduced herself, or at least gave him something to call her by he nodded curtly but didn't take her hand. Though there was no shame in returning it and introducing himself. "Mika." She hadn't said more than a first name either so although he did like to rub in his full title to most people he didn't this time. A vampaneze wouldn't like that so she didn't need to know who she was talking to.
Ophelia didn't appreciate having her hand left there. It was a common gesture, meant to be friendly. But the way the vampire acted towards her wasn't very nice at all. The man acted like she was the enemy. In all honesty, she had heard that the Vampires were the enemies of the Vampaneze, but that didn't mean he had to be the enemy of her and the other way around.
She pulled her hand back and placed it on her hip. "You act like you're my enemy, Mika. Am I your enemy? Because if you think of me as your enemy I will act as one." She said. She was being completely honest too. But Ophelia didn't want any more enemies than she already had, if she kept gaining enemies, she might never find any friends.

No, he didn't really think of her as his enemy. He just didn't trust her. Ha! The whole world was his enemy. Usually when people had a negative reaction to him it only made him act more negative, but it was different to be talked to like this. He looked at this Ophelia in surprise at her question. It wasn't what he had been expecting her to do or say. "No. Not unless you wish to be." He wasn't trying to make himself her enemy either. Mika didn't really have friends, just followers and enemies. That didn't mean he was against trying to change the fact though.
Ophelia smirked, walking to his side once more in a prance-like manner. "Lovely." She simply replied. She picked up a piece of his hair and examined it. It had a smooth texture, black as coal. She wanted to tug at it, but feared a negative reaction could become of her actions.
Looking at his profile curiously, she shrugged and leaned slightly closer. "What brings you here, Mika? Following young Vampaneze girls in their territory? If I had known you, I'd be flattered." She added with a light laugh. All she wanted to know why he was here, the Vampaneze bit was just for her pleasure.

Mika kept a watch on her out of the corner of his eye but didn't move or say anything when she touched his hair. Pfft, he did not chase girls! Though this one was rather attractive. For a vampaneze. But.. so what? She was the only vampaneze girl he knew of. And all of that was irrelevant. He didn't care. "Just passing through." he replied with a bit of a shrug. As he did so he turned to face her again. There wasn't much reason why Mika was there, just traveling by and maybe having a look around.
Ophelia smiled, hardly anyone passed through Vampaneze territory. That was a no-go, as there were many in these parts, always hunting out humans to drain dry. Sometimes she felt so out of place, among her purple-skinned family. It was odd, as she looked more like a half-blood rather than her true self. She crossed her arms and puffed out her lips in a ticked off sort of manner, although she was actually enjoying herself.
"You know, Mika, passing through here is similar to me trying to 'pass through' Vampire Mountain." She said with a gentle sigh, keeping her stance and facial expression.

Mika was no fool. He knew it best to tread carefully here. But there had to be humans here for the vampaneze to feed on, and he liked to think he had better chances than a human. Vampires attracted their attention but unlike a human he could kill those that got in the way. "Really? Well, I think I'll go ahead then." he said with a hint of a smirk in his words, bored and sardonic as ever. That meant it was an adventure. Nothing he couldn't get through. Not that she could ever get into Vampire Mountain, of course not. Call it arrogance, but he wasn't going to act any other way out loud to someone. He was a Vampire Prince after all. No, in reality he knew it was dangerous and was keeping a constant guard up. If she was going to run along after this and shout the alarm that there was a vampire trying to trespass, well let her and see if he'd be around to get caught.

She crossed her arms. He wasn't a very fun man to talk with. Of course she would have to be an idiot to even want to go to Vampire Mountain, she was perfectly happy in her territory. Yet it was people like Mika who felt like they had to be rubbing their noses in purple-skinned areas. She frowned slightly and pushed her hair behind her shoulders. "You know, you can't get rid of me that easily. My entire night is free, I've got nothing better to do, not until two days from now." What she meant was that's when she got to drain a man dry and regain all of her strength. Today she was alright, but she knew she wouldn't stand a chance against the vampire if he tried to attack her. She would have to flit and pray that didn't fail her.
She shrugged and felt like telling him her plans, it wasn't like he could find her then. "That's when I get to feed." She said with a grin. Now she was beginning to feel the pains of hunger deep inside her. She hated it when that happened.

Well, the fact that she wasn't going to kill anyone tonight but needed to soon was good to know. That meant she would be weaker. And not killing anyone was a good thing of course. "I'm not trying to get rid of you." Though he wasn't doing much to keep her around either. Maybe she'd get bored and just go away on her own.
"Why, can't you feed any time?" Mika asked her suspiciously, and there really was some curiosity behind it. He didn't try to stop her or tell her not to feed. It was what vampaneze did and there was nothing the vampires could do about it.
To his knowledge vampaneze didn't follow rules but fed whenever they wanted to. But then he remembered the scars they marked their prey with and how they planned it all out. Maybe she was waiting for something to happen to make her move in two days. Made no sense to him. They would have to be careful who they killed, yes, but why not just kill without unnecessary stuff? Pfft. Vampires didn't do anything like that and they were able to survive just fine.
Ophelia laughed, certainly he didn't think that she wanted to turn out exactly like the rest of her kind, there was nothing to distinguish one from the other, and that was one thing Ophelia simply couldn't stand. She loved individuality. Although most Vampaneze frowned upon her way of surviving, and some didn't even know. So in a way she could understand that he didn't know what she meant when she said she got to feed then.
She tugged at a strand of long dark hair and flipped it back over her shoulder. "I don't want to end up like the rest of them. If I only feed once a week or so, I can slow down the process, which means I don't have to use so many things to keep me looking the way I do. I absolutely loathe the way other Vampaneze prance about in their purple skins and red eyes, acting like they've got no cares in the world. Pity I actually chose this life, I could've been a Vampire instead. That's what foolish girls get for not thinking though!" She was being honest too, she would have preferred to wait and become a Vampire instead of living this miserable life filled with hunger and hiding behind potions and contacts and things of the like.
